Education in Africa
The education system in Africa is very bad. In Southafrica every third child can not go to school. The government doesn't get a lot of money and this money the government buys food and like this, not for the schools. Here is the booklet that I wrote about my assignment.
Botswana- In Botswana there are 7 years of Primary education, 3 years of
junior Secondary education and 2 years of Senior education. In Botswana’s
education system, girls and boys have equal access to
education.
Zimbabwe- You can start the Primary Years in
Zimbabwe with an age of 6 years old. The students will stay 7 years in primary
school, 4 years in Secondary School and 2 years in High School. Once, the
Zimbabwe education was the best in Africa, but then it
collapsed.
Tanzania- The Tanzanian education system is a
bit like in Zimbabwe. First, you will be 2 years in Pre-Primary School, after
that, 7 years of primary school, 4 years of ordinary Secondary education, then 2
years of the advanced level Secondary education. The minimum of the University
study time is 3 years.
Angola- 45 percent of Angolan children can’t
go to school. You will start school with the age of 7 years, the Secondary
School will begin at the age of 11, and will be lasting 8
years.
Kenya- The Primary School will start with a
age of 7, after finishing Kindergarten. The first class is well known and named
standard 1, and the final class is named standard 8. The school year of both
school parts (Primary, Secondary Schools) starts in January and ends in
November.
Ethiopia- Students start school with 7 years
old, but some start earlier. The government-ruled schools are graded like this:
In the Primary School there are the grades 1-8 in the Secondary Schools 9-10 and
in the pre- University 11 and 12. The classes are mostly overfilled with ca. 50
students.
Namibia- There are ca. 1500 schools in
Namibia. Only 100 Schools of them are Private Schools. The Primary Schools start
at an age of 6 and last 7 years. The secondary schools last for 5 years, there
will be the grades 8-12.
Ghana- The Primary Schools in Ghana last 6
years, Junior High Schools last 3 years, the Senior High Schools 4 years and the
University Bachelor’s Degree lasts also 4
years.
Democratic Republic Congo- The students have
6 years in Primary School till they can write the test for the Secondary School.
